Spend a few hours exploring the wonders of Hells Gate Geothermal Park in Rotorua, New Zealand's most unique geothermal experience. After a guided or self-guided tour of the steaming grounds, steeped in Maori myth and legend, soak in the healing sulphur spas, mud baths and cold pool.
Discover New Zealand's largest geothermal mud volcano and the Southern Hemisphere's tallest hot waterfall with a visit to Hells Gate Geothermal Park. Set on over 50 acres of active geothermal landscape, embark on a guided or self-guided walk around the grounds. Stroll through beautiful native bush and clouds of geothermic steam and witness mud volcanoes and bubbling pools as you learn about the powerful land that has been used by the Maori people for generations. Try your hand at Maori carving using a mallet, chisel and native wood before bathing in the world-famous mud baths. After gently exfoliating your skin, enter the sulphur spas and cool plunge pool which offer invigorating healing properties. Leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, ready for the rest of your adventure.
We recommend that women do not use our bathing facilities whilst pregnant. However, it is an individual's choice and we recommend that you seek advice from your health professional if you are wanting to bathe. Bathing is also not recommended for persons with heart problems or other serious medical conditions.
