Meet your hosts at your Turangi accommodation from 5am to 8am to transfer you to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and return. With the early starts you will miss the crowds and enjoy the sunrise.

Enroute your hosts will share naturally their Maori blessings experience amongst this majestic landscape before letting you set off on your journey. You will then be met at the end of the crossing for your return journey, with a celebratory free cold drink with your name on it awaiting you.

Important information

Session Length

There are four session times daily
Depart Turangi at 5.30am, return at 2pm
It is a 45 minute drive to the start of the crossing
It is a 15 minute drive from the finish of the crossing back to Turangi

Restrictions

Height elevations. Medical concerns. Physically challenging.

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

A minimum of two people are required for the tour to proceed.

Weather

Access to the crossing is weather dependent. Please check in with the experience provider at least one day before your booking date via email or phone to confirm weather conditions.

Dress Code

Avoid denim jeans. Prepare for the weather conditions including wet weather gear. Sturdy footwear is important. It is recommended that you bring sufficient supplies including food, water, first aid kit, toilet paper, sunscreen, and headlamp. Be prepared for all four seasons in one day in the Tongariro National Park volcanic environment where alpine weather conditions can change suddenly.
