This two hour learn to surf lesson covers all aspects of learning to surf, whether it’s a brief intro or making progress. You will be taught surf/beach safety, surf etiquette and - most importantly - how to ride the wave, with the main emphasis on having heaps of fun.
You’re never too old or young to start and people of all ages have experienced the thrill of surfing their first wave. With the right surf coaching you’ll be amazed how quickly you can pick up the basics.
The Surf Coaches are dedicated to continually improve your surfing in a safe positive environment, ensuring you have the best experience possible. Their enthusiasm, passion and love for the sport is totally infectious, they’ve got the surfing bug and are keen to pass it on.
Your surf lesson includes the use of a wetsuit and surfboard suited to your size and ability.
Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to their policy.
There can be up to ten participants in the group on the day.
The water temperature in summer is 18-22 degrees and in winter 15-18 degrees. The O'Neill wetsuits will keep you nice and toasty. Lessons will go ahead in just about all weather conditions including rain, you’ll be getting wet anyway so why not enjoy one of the few all weather sports.
You can bring your own surfboard and wetsuit if you wish, however these will be available for use on the day in all shapes and sizes.
It's ideal if you can swim 50 metres. If you are a non-swimmer or have limited swimming ability then please advise as such at the time of booking so that additional arrangements can be made to ensure you are looked after and sufficient coaching cover is available. Lessons are typically held in waist deep water, which make the activity safe and fun regardless of your swimming ability.
This experience takes place on the Tutukaka coast, Northland.
