Skydive Auckland, from 13,000ft or 16,000ft

Door open, feet dangling, wind roaring. A tandem skydive in Auckland takes off from Parakai Airport, with an instructor strapped to your back who does the hard parts. All you have to do is jump. Choose the height that suits you and the rest of the day is about the view.

13,000ft or 16,000ft: which skydive is for you?

The 13,000ft tandem skydive gives you 45 seconds of freefall at over 200km/h before the parachute opens. For longer in the air, the 16,000ft tandem skydive stretches that to 75 seconds. Both include all your safety equipment, a safety video and a briefing before you board.

The view from the plane

The flight up takes around 20 minutes, so there's time to take it in. On a clear day you can see both the east and west coasts, Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island. Further out, you may even spot Mt Ruapehu and Mt Taranaki. Once the parachute opens, your instructor steers you back down to land.

What to know before you skydive in Auckland

Allow around four and a half hours for the full experience, or three hours if you're driving to the airport yourself. The 16,000ft skydive lists pick up from the Sky Tower in its session length. The maximum weight is 100kg, and anyone under 18 needs parental supervision. Wear comfortable clothing and secure shoes, like trainers.

Skydiving depends on the weather, so confirm your jump with the provider an hour before your booking time. You can change your booking up to 24 hours before. Photo and video packages are available to buy on the day.
