Renowned for its golden sand beaches, sculpted granite formations and its otherworldly coastal track, the Abel National Park is a place full of wonder, waiting to be discovered in all kinds of ways. Choose to write your own adventure with this three day self-guided walking trip. After a morning pick up, take a cruise along the sparkling coastline from Kaiteriteri to Totaranui, where you will walk through mature native forest and along secluded beaches to the magnificent expanse of the Awaroa Inlet, home to Meadowbank Homestead. Receive a warm welcome from your hosts and study your provided maps and track notes for the next two days ahead.

Wake to breakfast overlooking Meadowbank's gardens and the waters of Abel Tasman's largest tidal estuary, before embarking along the coastal track. Immerse yourself in cool native forest and take a refreshing dip in the waters on route to Torrent Bay. If you're after a shorter walker, your hosts can arrange a boat transfer. The final day follows the easiest section of the coastal track from Torrent Bay to Marahau, boasting sweeping views across Tasman Bay and Nelson. At the end of the track, your driver will meet you for the transfer home.

This experience is two nights and three days in duation.
Departs Nelson Mon, Fri, Sat and Sun at 10:15am and Motueka at 11:15am
Departs Nelson on Wed at 7am and Motueka at 8:15am
The Wednesday trip has an earlier start as you will walk the track Northbound with the final boat transfer at the end

Low season itinerary: From May to November this itinerary may be altered to make the most of the winter sunshine, with two nights accommodation at Torrent Bay Lodge

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 60 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 60 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Minimum of four participants for the tour to go ahead. Maximum of 26 paying customers at all time in the lodge.

Dress Code

Please bring personal first-aid kit with plasters, blister prevention and antiseptic, re-usable water bottle to be filled at the office and lodges, insect repellent, sunscreen, sunhat, sunglasses, hand sanitiser (please no tissues or hand wipes as they add to litter to the park), phone/camera with charger, swimwear and beach towel (optional), credit card for Wi-Fi access. In-house bar takes credit card or eftpos (no cash), essential personal medication must be carried with you each day.
