Miri Miri is the traditional Maori massage regime that has been practiced for hundreds of years. This massage has been developed with guidance from a local healing woman and incorporates local customs and culture. It is used for both physical and spiritual wellbeing in contrast to Western massages.

Miri Miri massage always begins with a karakia (traditional prayer) that focuses on wairua ora (spiritual health) and hinengaro ora (mental health). You will be treated to a 1 hour massage which starts with massaging the soles of your feet, then carrying onto your legs, buttocks, lower back, shoulders and neck. You will then be asked to turn over and the therapist will continue again starting with your feet and then your legs and arms, finishing up with a glorious head, shoulders and face massage. The massage itself uses techniques that have a therapeutic rhythm to the strokes and focus on energy balancing and synergy for a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

The benefits of the Wai Ora Miri Miri are varied and many. Similarly to other Western techniques Miri Miri helps with body realignment, improves circulation, reduces muscular tension and relaxation however due to the holistic nature of the therapy benefits also include clarity for the mind, calmness and tension release. This massage uses an 'Alite' body massage oil blend containing natural oils and extracts as well as being rich in vitamin E. The massage oils unique blend including New Zealand’s manuka oil, enhances and invigorates the skins natural sensuality and uplifts one's spirit.
