This full day guided walk of the Queen Charlotte Track is perfect for those who are passing through the Picton or the Marlborough Sounds for only a day or two.

You will be collected from your Picton accommodation in the morning and meet your guide at the water taxi at the Picton waterfront. Journey from Picton past salmon farms and sea birds on this beautiful one hour voyage to Ship Cove where you will start your tour. This fascinating and remote historic scenic reserve is famous for hosting Captain Cook several times during the 18th century while also being a significant site of early Maori settlement.

As you set off from Ship Cove towards Endeavour Inlet you’ll be surrounded by podocarp and beech forest with punga ferns and other native New Zealand foliage along with many beautiful views across the Queen Charlotte Sound. Your experienced local guide will share with you their knowledge about the European and Maori history of the area as well as provide detailed information on the birds and plants you encounter along the way.

Along the way, sit down for a freshly packed lunch and coffee as you gaze across the stunning Marlborough Sounds.

At the end of the walk, take the opportunity to purchase a cold drink or warm beverage at the historic Furneaux Lodge before jetting back to Picton by water taxi.
