Take the day to explore the natural beauty of Central Otago along the Roxburgh Gorge Trail, including a fun and informative boat ride between Doctors Point and Shingle Creek.
Take in the incredible scenery while you explore this unique slice of Central Otago by bike. This cycle tour follows the Clutha River along the Roxburgh Gorge Trail, between Alexandra and Lake Roxburgh Dam.
Collect your bike and pick out a helmet before beginning the first stage of the trail, a 10km cycle to Shingle Creek. Once you reach Shingle Creek, you'll be greeted by an awaiting boat to transfer you to the next leg of the trail, Doctors Point. Take a moment to enjoy the relaxing aboard the boat, taking in the spectacular views and learn about the rich gold-mining history of the region.
Commence your next 12km cycle from Doctors Point through to Alexandra when you can continue on the rail-trail or instead choose the serene River Track back to Clyde.
This trail ride is a perfect way to explore remote areas of Central Otago while taking in the incredible views the area is known for.
NOTE: A voluntary contribution of $25 per person or $50 per family can be paid prior to departure on the day to aid trail maintenance. The fee also covers the use of the Clutha Gold Trail, which follows on from the Roxburgh Gorge Trail.
