This is a comprehensive tour of the self proclaimed Art Deco capital of the world.

Beginning at the Art Deco Centre with an audio visual introduction, you'll then be led by your guide for a tour of this fun and vibrant city. You'll hear the fascinating story of the towns destruction from the 1931 earthquake and how Napier rebuilt itself through the style of the times. As you tour through the Art Deco Quarter, your guide will also show you the interiors of some of the most stunning examples of the art deco architectural style of the city.

At the conclusion of your tour you will be invited into a boutique theatre for a short film about the world famous Art Deco Weekend celebrations.

On the Day

  • Tours depart daily at 2pm
  • The walk is two hours long

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider. If your experience is cancelled you will be rescheduled by the provider.
