This is an iconic Christchurch activity absolutely not to be missed. From your Punt, sit back, relax and admire the beautiful Christchurch Botanic Gardens or the changing face of the city centre as you are guided gently along the Avon River on an authentic Edwardian Punt.

What's included?

Summer or winter, glide along the iconic Avon River in Christchurch, as a professional Punter in traditional Edwardian dress attire propels you slowly along the water.

Your tour is set aboard a handcrafted flat-bottomed boat and is poled along by your Punter from the platformed till at the rear end of the boat. Ideal as a group or family activity, Punting on the Avon is an eco-friendly way to relax and enjoy Christchurch from a different perspective.

Important information

  • Summer hours: 9am - 6pm (1st October to 31st March)
  • Winter hours: 10am - 4pm (1st April to 30th September)
  • Adults: 16 years and over
  • Children: 5-15 years
  • All infants aged under 5 years must be seated beside an adult in the Punt
  • Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
  • Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
  • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Punts are able to accomodate up to 10 people.

Blankets, umbrellas and even hot water bottles can be provided in winter if it's chilly.

Dress warmly on the day you go Punting, and wear comfortable shoes.

A very great experience

My son and I and his father really loved it this afternoon we are so going again thank you guys very friendly team and letting my my son feed special seeds to these ducks he loved it so much but he did have hey fever which didn't help but he did enjoyed it

Very relaxing. Great way to spend a hot day but even on a cold day I am sure it would be good. Such clear water. Lovely trees overhanging the river. Followed the trip with lunch at the Boatshed cafe - another great experience.
