★★★★★ ★★★★★ Great workout + adventure, stunning sunset views MLN 30 January 2019 Logan and Ben were easygoing, jovial and down-to-Earth. Their no-nonsense approach to getting everyone kitted up with safety gear and out on the water as quickly as possible meant that after only a few minutes' worth of confusion, we were off and away. The initial kayaking across the bay was much more strenuous than was actually made clear (though as I've said, a fantastic workout, and I thoroughly loved it), and some of our troop suffered. The landing and subsequent slogging through mud and oysters to drag the kayaks up onto the beach was not anticipated, and was actually rather unpleasant - and again, some of the less-outdoorsy among the group really did struggle. There wasn't an indication that we'd have been wise to bring a towel to wash + dry our mud-caked, riverbank-drenched feet between hauling (very heavy and ungainly) kayaks off the mud banks up onto the boat ramp and all the way up onto the top concrete platform (leading us to piece together that, at 9:30pm in the dark, windy night, we'd have to reverse this process to get them BACK into the water - an unpleasant, messy, filthy and exhausting job after an hour's hard kayaking + 2-hour-round-trip hike), and setting off for the hour-long all-uphill hike. The actual physical requirements involved on this trip should be made more clear. My partner and I did not struggle, being recklessly outdoorsy types, however this was pure luck. As mentioned above, other members of our group really were having extreme difficulty keeping pace on both water AND land. ALL of that said, the views atop the mountain looking back over Auckland city as the sun set were spectacular; there's no other way to put it. Logan and Ben were keen to share little titbits of local knowledge about the island, the culture, and the history. They also cooked a truly simple-but-satisfying early dinner of steaks on a barbeque plate plus a couple of salads. The late-night-final-sustaining-midnight-snack-brownies didn't go astray, either. The sights are stunning. The water is surprisingly aquamarine. On the return journey at around 10pm, it's incredibly serene and tranquil. It's just that the overall experience really is more for the outdoorsy types then the relaxed weekender types. Would definitely book another trip.

★★★★★ ★★★★★ Great experience SN 16 April 2017 It was a great experience. Less strenuous then I had expected. The dinner- Thai green curry was yummy & hit absolutely the right spot. We really enjoyed the night kayaking experience- with the stars above & the city lights. Would highly recommend!
