RedBalloon is your one-stop shop for experiences and curated gifts. We’re so confident you’ll love what you get from us, we’re offering this promise to you…
We want you to have the most enriching experience possible, so if this means swapping your jet boat experience for wine tasting then we’ve got you covered. Simply exchange online or contact our Customer Experience Team and we’ll do the work for you.
Not only do we handpick the best experiences for you, we also guarantee you’ll pay the same as you would buying direct from the experience provider. If you find the same experience advertised at a lower standard price on the same day by the same provider, simply take a screenshot of the experience advertised at the lower price and tell us within 30 days of your purchase and we’ll match it.
We understand life gets busy, which is why all vouchers and gift cards purchased have a 5-year expiry. The only exception to our expiry terms is if the experience has already been booked in. We honour the purchase price of our experiences for 18 months. If you book your experience after this time and the price of the experience increases you can either pay the difference or exchange it for another experience free of charge.
We know the trust consumers place in ratings and reviews is tied directly to authenticity. That’s why we use Bazaarvoice. We believe that reviews should represent the genuine, unbiased, and transparent opinion about the author’s experience with a product or service. Reviews are not altered in any way by anyone other than the original author — including corrections for spelling or grammar. Reviews are not filtered, edited, or deleted simply because they are negative or are lower-rated.
The RedBalloon Price Guarantee does not apply to experiences involving accommodation or Experience Providers' own conditional sales.
Witness the scenic magic of the South Island unfold before you as you ride the Tranzalpine Train from the east to west coast. Then, meet your guide and hike in the Arthur's Pass National Park, followed by a scenic drive down the spectacular Otira Gorge and a visit to the Cave Stream.
Experience the South Island's striking natural landscape as you ride on the Tranzalpine Train, one of the world's most scenic train journeys covering 223km one way. Along this journey, you will see epic mountain vistas, travel the edges of the ice-fed Waimakariri River and traverse the Southern Alps. Hop off in Arthur's Pass and meet your guide for a recharging lunch at a local country hotel. Then, head to the Arthur's Pass National Park for a guided 2-4 hour hike, tailored to your group's ability. Characterised by vast beech forests and rivers, and home to the Kea a cheeky mountain parrot, it's a nature lover's paradise.
After your walk, you will head back into the city via minibus, following the old stage coach route and down the spectacular Otira Gorge. Visit the Cave Stream where it burrows underground in an area of limestone cliffs and gorges, rocky outcrops and a backdrop of mountains from east to west. The return journey takes you over Porter's Pass and crosses the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
