Experience Zealandia, Wellington’s wildlife sanctuary, as it transforms from daylight to twilight.

Encounter unique species such as weta, takaha, tuatara and many more. See birds returning to the sanctuary to settle into their nests, the sight of the evening sky, and hear the changing sounds of birds from day to night. You may even experience the first sounds of the nocturnal birds as they wake.

Hot kawakawa tea (Bushman's tea) will also be served either in the forest or at the Visitors Centre. An ideal pre-dinner activity in Wellington!

Session Length

  • Please allow two hours for this experience
  • Please arrive 15 mins prior to your tour start time to check in and meet your guide
  • Tours are available from November to March each year.
  • Tour start times vary throughout the year depending on sunset, and start between 6pm - 7:30pm
  • Your tour start time will be confirmed by the supplier when booking
