Discover the gorgeous scenic wonders of the Arrowtown and Wanaka area on this full day tour. Travel through historical gold mining towns and stop for spectacular photo opportunities along the way. Visit Wanaka Tree, The Chinese Village, Cardrona Hotel and sample fruit at a local orchard.
Your day starts with a walk around Arrowtown, an old gold mining town filled with quaint, restored cottages and historic buildings. You'll be amazed by how perfect this town appears, it's like walking onto a movie set! Next, you'll travel to Kawarau Bridge - the site of the first bungy jump - where you'll be able to take in amazing scenic views and watch the nervous bungy jumpers. You'll also be taken to the location where The Gates of Argonath stood in the Lord of the Rings movies.
Your bus will take you through Gibbston Valley and along the Kawarau Gorge, you'll enjoy stunning views of the many vineyards that dot the area. You'll then stop at Cromwell and learn about the New and Old sides of the town and be treated to a scrumptious morning tea. You will also sample juicy stone fruit at a Cromwell orchard.
Next stop is Wanaka; a beautiful town that is characterised by eco resorts and a quaint village vibe. You'll get to visit the 'Reflection Tree', an iconic tree that has been widely photographed by international and domestic visitors. Then it's your free time to explore Wanaka, you can stroll along the streets, eat lunch at a cafe and browse the local shops.
Once you regroup you'll begin the journey back to your accommodation in Queenstown, not before travelling along the Crown Range; this is the highest sealed road in NZ and provides some amazing views and photo opportunities. The final stop is at the Cardrona Hotel, the iconic pub that used to serve as accommodation for the gold miners. Here you'll get to enjoy a pint of their own brew; the popular Cardrona Ale.
