Set sail on the stunning Lake Taupo aboard a classic sailing yacht as the sun lowers from the sky. You'll cruise to the famed Maori Rock Carvings at Mine Bay and learn about the local history, enjoy pizza and a wide selection of drinks, help the crew hoist the sails and go for a dip in the big blue.
Experience the magic of sailing on board a classic sailing yacht at sunset on the crystal-clear waters of Lake Taupo. As the sun begins to sink into the horizon, you'll gracefully glide along the waterways to the iconic Mine Bay Maori Rock Carvings, hailed as one of New Zealand's most extraordinary contemporary artworks. Only viewable from the water, the masterpiece towers 14 metres above the lake and is surrounded by over 40 smaller carvings. Over the cruise, you'll learn about the history of the lake and be given the opportunity to help the crew hoist the sails and turn the wheel. If this doesn't appeal, you're free to snuggle up under the blankets, lounge on the main deck and savour pizza and drinks. There will also be a swimming stop for those keen to take a dip at sundown.
No hard-soled shoes or heels permitted.
Minimum of four and maximum of 24 participants.
Dress comfortably and warmly (layered clothes work best), wind and showerproof jacket recommended. Bring swimwear and towel (during summer), sunblock, sunglasses and hat. No hard soled shoes or high heels.
