Choose the most sustainable way to explore the beautiful Lake Taupo on board a classic sailing yacht. You'll gracefully glide along the waterways to the iconic Mine Bay Maori Rock Carvings, hailed as one of New Zealand's most extraordinary contemporary artworks. Only viewable from the water, the masterpiece towers 14 metres above the lake and is surrounded by over 40 smaller carvings. Over the cruise, you'll learn about the history of the lake and be given the opportunity to help the crew hoist the sails and turn the wheel. If this doesn't appeal, you're free sun-bake on the main deck and savour a delicious pizza. As the yacht can reach the carvings faster, you'll be given lots of time to swim in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Taupo.
No hard-soled shoes or heels permitted.
Minimum of four and maximum of 24 participants.
Dress comfortably and warmly (layered clothes work best), wind and showerproof jacket recommended. Bring swimwear and towel (during summer), sunblock, sunglasses and hat. No hard soled shoes or high heels.
