The crew are fantastic - you can just to adventure up the mast if you like, or just chill on the deck or a swim in the lunch stop. Plus it’s a charity that upskills local teenagers. They helped us climb the mast, climb out onto the bow spit and steer the ship if we wanted to. Nothing was too much trouble and they wanted to make the day one to remember. Food was great with all needs catered for. Plenty of time to hang out on a nearby island or relax on the ship. Good value for money and love the fact it helps to fund projects for kids.
★★★★★ ★★★★★ Wonderful Experience Over65 10 February 2015 Being over 65 didn't deter 4 of us from taking this great experience. As "locals" as opposed to tourists we had known a lot about the boat but never made the effort to go, so it was a lovely day of fun, laughter, chatting with the crew and other participants. The food was good, the weather was kind, and we were lucky to have as skipper the man who had actually built the boat in 1985. He was wonderful to talk to and the two other young crew were great at their jobs. Quite a few of us helped with setting the sails which was relatively easy, and we also enjoyed a swim before lunch and the delights of their rope "swing". There was morning tea provided of jam and cream scones, lunch was salad, potato salad and chicken, and a bar available to purchase drinks. All in all highly recommended and a wonderful alternative to seeing the Bay of Islands at a much leisurely pace.
