Known for its white sandy beaches and friendly waves, Whangamata in the perfect place for swimming, surfing and stand up paddle boarding. The harbour or estuary offer perfect conditions for a basic flat water lesson where you will learn the basics including ocean awareness, safety and the basic techniques on how to position on the board and paddle, how to stand up and how to master turns.

For SUP surfing, the beach break is a perfect starting point, with long rolling waves ideal for learning the basics of wave riding. For more advanced classes, the famous Whanga Bar is the place to improve your skills with long left walls ideal to practice turns.
