Step behind the scenes Weta Workshop is home to an entire team of creative artisans who’ve helped bring to life films such as The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, King Kong, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar and many others. Take an exclusive glimpse through the windows of our Wellington workshop on a guided tour of our creative home. Visit Weta Workshop Experiences in Wellington and learn about the making of movie effects, from armour to aliens, creatures to costumes and makeup to miniatures.

    • Please allow 90 minutes for this experience
    • Multiple departures, daily
    • This experience is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm
    • This experience is suitable for all ages
    • Transport is not included
    • Photography is strictly prohibited whilst in our tour spaces
    • It is strongly recommended to book in advance, as the tours sell out particularly quickly during peak season (Oct-Apr)
    • You'll need to collect your tickets at the Weta Cave ticketing desk at least 15 minutes before your tour starts
    • Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
    • Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
    • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

    Maximum 16 people per tour.

    This is an all weather experience.

    Loved the quick tour though unfortunately couldn't understand our tour guide half the time. Had to properly look at her face to be able to understand her
