Climb aboard your Gondola at The Base station, nestled in the Heathcote Valley just 15 minutes drive from the Christchurch CBD.

You’ll have 360 degree views across the 862 horizontal metre of cableway including the Christchurch cityscape, Canterbury Plains, the Southern Alps and also the Banks Peninsula.

The Gondola trip up to the summit takes 10 minutes one way at normal speed. Each cable car stops at the summit to allow you to get off and take in the unparalleled views. There’s also an opportunity to refuel at the summit cafe - a coffee or a snack you won’t forget in a hurry!

Session Length

  • The Gondola ride is 10 minutes each way
  • Open 10am - 5pm (last ride up) daily
  • Closed on Christmas Day

  • For safety reasons, children must be accompanied by a paying adult
