Excite at the chance to drive over the rim of an extinct volcano before an awe-inspiring kayak tour at Pohatu Marine Reserve. Enjoy the serenity as you paddle past towering cliffs, reefs and deep sea caves, with the only interruptions being from friendly seals, penguins, dolphins and sea birds.
Departing Akaroa, enjoy a breathtaking scenic drive in a 4WD minivan, passing over the rim of an extinct volcano. There will be plenty of photo stops along the way with commentary to ensure you get the most out of your adventure. After the drive, take a seat in a double kayak for a magical paddle around Pohatu Marine Reserve. Explore the outer coast of this stunning area, marvelling at surreal towering volcanic cliffs, rock stacks, reefs and deep sea caves. If sea conditions permit, you will uncover Flea Bay Island and the impressive island arch along the way. As you glide across the brilliant blue waters, an array of unique wildlife may pop by to say hello. Look out for friendly fur seals, feisty Little Penguins, playful dolphins and an abundance of sea birds. It's a wonderfully serene way to spend the afternoon.
Limitation on weight and height. Children need to be over 6 years old and parents need to be able to maneuver a kayak on their own.
