This full day walking tour through Mount Aspiring National Park is the perfect way to experience the picture-perfect landscapes New Zealand is known for. Getting out to the track is easy, with transfers directly from Queenstown. On your drive you will enjoy the picturesque scenery of Glenorchy and the idyllic Lake Wakatipu, arriving at the National Park, ready for your nature walk along the Routeburn Trail.

The track follows the Routeburn River as it roars through a magnificent gorge before plunging beneath the rocks. The trail gradually ascends through a 130 million year old magical world of ferns, mosses, lichen and beech forest. On the way, learn about the historical significance of the Routeburn Track and how it was used by Maori and European pioneers. Photo opportunities abound, you will be astounded by the expanse of these natural landscapes and the charming native birds you'll be able to spot in their natural habitats. Moderate fitness is required as it is a steady 2-hour incline to Flats Hut and possibly a 1.5-hour steep hike to Falls Hut. The trail has rocky paths, slippery surfaces, uneven ground with exposed tree roots, steep inclines and declines. The Guide sets the pace for the slowest walker, the group must stay together and follow instructions.
