Join in this exclusive opportunity to view the endangered, yellow eyed penguins in their natural habitat, with a 90 minutes guided tour of The Otago Peninsula Eco Restoration Alliance. Begin your experience by learning all there is to know about the rare and endangered, yellow eyed penguin (hoiho), and the conservation efforts The OPERA is putting in place to protect this magnificent species.
Explore the rehabilitation centre, where, when present, the yellow-eyed penguins and other penguins can be seen up close, before embarking on a short bus ride to the reserve. With stunning views and abundant wildlife and flora, the final part of your tour takes place on foot with a guided two kilometre nature walk. With the potential to see numerous plants and animals, including yellow eyed penguins and little penguins, fur seals, sea lions, and several species of shore and land birds, all of which reside in the reserve. This experience is a rare opportunity not only to observe an endangered species but to support the conservation efforts taking place behind the scenes.

Please wear clothing suitable to the weather conditions on the day and sturdy footwear. Wet weather gear is encouraged on rainy days.
