Enjoy amazing animal encounters at Orana Wildlife Park, New Zealand's only open-range zoo. Hand-feed giraffes, meet rhinos up close, stroll through native bird aviaries or make friends with some farm animals. There are 10 animal presentations daily to help you meet the precious animals up close.

Head to Orana Wildlife park for a day of connecting with some of New Zealand's most loved animals! Located only a 15 minute drive from Christchurch airport, Orana Wildlife Park is the countries only open range zoo, and home to Aotearoa's only gorillas. You'll share unforgettable moments with the animals, such as hand feeding the majestic giraffes, getting up close with the magnificent white rhino, or hanging out in the walkthrough aviaries! You'll also get the chance to meet New Zealand's national icon, the kiwi, and watch the delightful spider monkeys swinging around their island. Learn from the friendly walkabout guides who provide daily animal presentations and then head to the children's playground for some fun on the 50 metre flying fox! Orana Wildlife Park is a not-to-miss experience on your visit to Christchurch, providing endless fun for the whole family!

Important information

Please allow 3-5 hours to visit the Park, minimum time recommended is two hours.

Children 15yrs and under must be supervised by a responsible adult 16yrs or older.

  • Admissions close at 4 pm - it is recommended you arrive by 3 pm
  • All children must be supervised by a parent or caregiver 16 years or older
  • Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
  • Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
  • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

The map was totally opposite to the actual layout of the zoo. Unfortunately not impressed with the zoo. Will not go again
