Visit some of New Zealand's most stunning and panoramic regions that were used as Lord of the Rings filming locations, on a tour perfect for anyone who loves both LOTR and the thrills of off road adventures!
Visit Lord of the Rings filming locations of Minas Tirith, Misty Mountains, the Pillars of the Kings (Argonath), the site of Isildur’s Fall, the Ford of Bruinen and more! This is a true adventure safari, packed with scenery from the LOTR films, gold mining history, thrilling 4WD river crossings and a great overview of the diverse scenery of the Queenstown and Arrowtown area
This tour takes you out of Queenstown towards The Remarkables mountain range, was used as various mountains throughout the trilogy, including the Misty Mountains. Travel part of the way up the road to a lookout point providing a bird's eye view over Deer Park Heights, used as the filming location for the refugees of Rohan and the Battle of the Wargs scenes. Descending The Remarkables towards the Kawarau Gorge, you will view the location of both the world's first commercial bungy operation and the filming location for the Pillars of the Kings. On leaving the Kawarau Gorge, the trip heads to Arrowtown, where the loss of The One Ring at Gladden Fields was filmed.
From Arrowtown you will travel along a historic gold mining road that follows the Arrow River, crossing the river at several points including the Ford of Bruinen filming site. Stop beside the river for a refreshing morning or afternoon tea and the opportunity to try your hand at gold panning. On the way back to Queenstown, you will travel via Coronet Peak to Skippers Saddle, offering spectacular panoramic views over the Wakatipu Basin and in to Skippers Canyon.
