This beautifully restored vintage steamship has been carrying visitors for over a century, offering a relaxed and picturesque way to take in the lake’s crystal?clear waters and surrounding alpine peaks. Watch the stokers fuel the engines, explore the historic features on board, or simply enjoy the open-air views from the deck.
Your journey leads you to Walter Peak High Country Farm, a historic lakeside station known for its warm kiwi hospitality. The Homestead Restaurant, set within beautifully restored buildings and surrounded by sweeping gardens, provides the perfect setting for a long, leisurely BBQ lunch. Our chefs prepare your meal right in front of you on the open grill, showcasing premium cuts of meat, fresh seasonal vegetables, vibrant salads, indulgent desserts, and a selection of New Zealand’s finest cheeses. With plenty of time to dine, relax, and explore the grounds, this is a lunch experience designed to be savoured.
After your meal, wander outside for an engaging demonstration of traditional farm life. Learn about Walter Peak’s heritage, watch the working dogs in action, and meet the friendly animals that live on the station. It’s an authentic and entertaining glimpse into rural New Zealand and one of the region’s earliest high-country farms.
Your afternoon concludes with a peaceful return cruise aboard the TSS Earnslaw. Sit back and take in the expansive mountain and lake views as you journey back to Queenstown. This means that all food and beverage purchases aboard our vessels in Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Queenstown, and Te Anau, as well as at Walter Peak and the Manapouri Cafe, will no longer accept cash. A cashless system will provide a smoother, more efficient experience for both our guests and staff. Our payment terminals accept all major credit cards and debit cards, including AMEX, WeChat Pay, AliPay and Union Pay, as well as contactless payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Note: Fee of 1.5% applies to food and beverage purchases by credit card only. The fee does not apply to purchases in Retail Store at Walter Peak, or merchandise purchased from our Visitor Centres.

We honour the purchase price of our experiences for 18 months. If you book your experience after this time and the price of the experience increases you can either pay the difference or exchange it for another experience free of charge.
