Experience one of New Zealand’s most picturesque one day rides along Lake Dunstan in Cromwell. With 450m of clip ons and an 84m suspension bridge, this trail is an engineering feat. Soak in the scenic views, and enjoy a boat ride back along the trail on the Dunstan Explorer Boat.
Prepare for an incredible day in Central Otago with this Lake Dunstan Bike and Boat Full Day experience. This is the perfect experience for those who love exploring the outdoors and getting active whilst doing so! You’ll arrive at the location and leave your car at the point where our day will finish, ensuring a smooth return home. Throughout the day, you’ll ride an average of 42km and experience one of the most scenic bike trails in all of New Zealand. Riding the compacted gravel trail lakeside, you’ll get to soak up incredible views as you travel between Cromwell and Clyde. Enjoy a short stop at Carrick Winery and Burger Afloat for some refreshments and nibbles, before meeting the dedicated team member and heading back via boat for a scenic cruise down the lake. nzbiketrails recommends e-bikes on this trail - there are two 140m climbs and 25km without any road access. e-bikes keep groups together and we believe make for a more enjoyable ride. The Central Otago weather can be very hot and dry with periods of rainfall. The prevailing wind is in the direction that you'll ride the trail. The experience operator will provide a full refund if they have to cancel due to extreme weather conditions.
Please dress in weather appropriate clothing and make sure that you use sunscreen on sunny days. On cold days, especially in Winter, you will need gloves. Please ensure that you carry rain jackets. It's recommended to wear multiple thin layers of clothing that are designed to keep you warm or cool.
