Experience ziplining through the stunning Rakanui Station, crossing the Kahutara River in a 4x4 Unimog vehicle and bushwalking through native New Zealand Forest.

  • Ride a series of 5 giant flying-fox ziplines side-by-side totalling 2.2km in length

This 3.5-hour eco-tourism adventure begins in the centre of town at EcoZip's home base, where your guides will prep you for your 15-minute scenic shuttle ride south to the gear up and staging location. From there, you'll transfer to a custom-built Unimog 4X4 that will carry you through the intertwined freshwater streams of the Kahutara River and onto Rakanui Station. Rakanui Station is a beautiful 3000-acre working farm featuring rolling valleys, native trees, trickling rivers, cascading waterfalls, and lush farmland. Here, you'll embark on a short natural trail through native New Zealand forest, guided by two expert local guides who will share the history of the region and stories of the local people. Next up your tree-top adventure begins with 2.2km of high-flying fun across five giant ziplines, ranging from 250m to 610m in length, where you'll enjoy bird's-eye views of the mountains and the ocean.

Important information

This experience has a duration of 3.5 hours.

  • Weight restriction of 30kgs - 125kgs
  • Not recommended during pregnancy
  • Participants must be reasonably fit and able, via stairs and ladders to mount and dismount the lines
  • Includes short hikes on uneven terrain downhill and uphill. Participants must be able to complete these hikes
  • Multiple tours operating daily, except Christmas Day
  • Children must be accompanied by at least 1 ziplining adult
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of departure are non-refundable. Rescheduling within this period incurs a $49 per person fee
  • Cancellations more than 48 hours before departure incur a $25 per person fee, with the balance refunded. Such bookings can be amended once for free, subject to availability. Further changes or cancellations will incur additional charges as specified in these terms
  • Participants who do not show up 15 minutes before their Zipline time will forfeit their payment

Maximum of 12 participants per tour.

No spectators.

Ziplining will go ahead even if it is raining. If the wind exceeds a consistent 35 knots, the tour may be cancelled. If this happens, you'll have the option to change the time and/or date of your tour or get a full refund.

Please bring sunscreen, a hat or cap (which can fit under a helmet), trainers or hiking shoes that can get dirty. If cold weather is forecast, bring a warm jersey or fleece and a rain jacket.
