That’s 10% of the Australian population! When we started ‘doing’ experiences in 2001, Facebook didn’t exist; the iPod had just been invented; John Howard was Prime Minister; and Destiny's Child were popular (yikes!). We’ve been at this business of experiences for quite a while, so put your trust in us to show you a good time.
The RedBalloon Price Guarantee does not apply to experiences involving accommodation or Experience Providers' own conditional sales.
Dive the impressive HMNZS Canterbury wreck, resting in Deep Water Cove near Cape Brett. Teeming with fish, this is an impressive sight in an amazing dive location.
The former Navy Frigate Canterbury F421 now rests in Deep Water Cove near Cape Brett. Upright and intact, she makes for an impressive sight in an amazing dive location! Divers hit the bow at about 20m and can swim through the bridge to the helicopter hanger at 27m.
The upper deck, bridge and first floor levels are easily within recreational diving range. Lower levels are for the more advanced divers with the stern resting at approximately 36m.
Fish are already making themselves at home aboard the Canterbury, with resident schools in the bridge and around the funnel. This is just beginning as the location of this Frigate will ensure it quickly becomes a haven for dozens of fish species.
For your safety, this experience is weather dependent.
Please bing your swimsuit, towel, sun block, camera and something warm to wear after diving.
The Canterbury lies in water deeper than 18m/60ft. As such, any divers who wish to dive the wrecks must be a certified diver with an advanced diving certification and also medically fit. Proof of both will be required.
This experience departs from Paihia, Bay of Islands.
