Guidelines

Backcountry Helicopters and Wilkin River Jets will provide transport in and out of Mt Aspiring National Park
Bring everything you might need for your safety and personal comfort during the day, as you will be in the New Zealand wilderness
If you have any concerns, medical conditions, or injuries, please inform the office staff before you head out on your journey
You must be of moderate fitness to take part in this activity and have the ability to hike 7 km continuously for approximately three hours

Numbers on the Day

Minimum numbers of two passengers for the Helicopter and five passengers for the Jet Boat apply. If on the day min numbers are not met, we will offer another activity

Weather

This activity can be subject to weather. Our pilots are highly skilled and trained to read weather conditions and understand our mountain environment. We act on the side of caution and if the weather is looking unsuitable or unpredictable and safety is an issue, we will look at another option or reschedule your flight. The call to fly is up to the Pilot in Command and their specialist opinion is final in this matter.

Dress Code

New Zealand weather can change often, so ensure you bring a warm wind rain/windproof outer layer and suitable walking shoes/hiking boots. Please also bring a day pack with water, snacks or lunch, sunglasses, hat, sun screen, insect repellent, and hiking poles if you usually use them.
