Behold the sight of thousands of glowworms illuminating the walls of their cave in this stunning setting. You'll also enjoy a relaxed cruise across Lake Te Anau whilst you learn from your expert guide just what makes this area magical.
Meet your friendly and informative guide in Te Anau before a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau. You will head to the underground cave system on the western shore of the lake. Upon arrival, you will learn about the life cycle of glowworms as well as the history of the caves themselves. Then, your guide will lead you on an exploration of the caves by foot and by a small punt (flat bottomed boat) along the river. You will witness water sculpted rock formations as you head into the glowworm grotto, home to thousands of glowworm forming mysterious constellations across the cave. Afterwards, enjoy a return cruise back to Te Anau.
This experience is part of the Responsible range as it holds a Qualmark Enviro-Gold endorsement and was awarded the NZ Tourism Industry Conservation in Action Award. Through fundraising, charity events and passenger levies, the provider supports no less than nine conservation projects and takes an active and logistic role in trapping, pest control and coastal clean up in the Fiordland area.
