Join us for a 4WD Turbo Evo Rally Drive Experience. You will drive a full race spec Mitsubishi Evo 4WD turbo rally car through a 4.9km forest stage, in the famous Maramarua Forest, then jump in the passenger seat for a flat-out experience with a professional rally driver.

Classroom Session - Driving instruction & Safety briefing
A pre-rally tour of the rally stage
3 laps driving a 4WD Turbo Evo rally car with 1-on-1 tutoring
Hot lap with a professional driver
Overalls, helmets, neck braces provided - bring own covered shoes
Allow 2.5 to 3 hours for this experience

The ultimate driving experience! Drive a real rally car for three tutored laps around our gravel road track in the famous Maramarua Forest. Finish with our Hot Seat Thrill Ride, sit next to our experienced Rally driver as you're propelled around our track at race speed - an adrenaline fueled experience!

A short brief on the sport of rallying and driving techniques is followed by students driving a four wheel drive rally car with a tutor providing guidance. Complete 3 laps of the forest circuit driving on a gravel forest rally stage.

The day is completed with a full-on ride in the passenger seat of the 4WD Mitsubishi Lancer Evo with an experienced rally driver at the wheel.

Session Length

This experience takes approximately 2.5 hours

Restrictions

This Adventure Activity involves Motorsport which is Dangerous and can result in injury or death, although the experience provider does everything in their power to mitigate these risks, you must be aware of these and be willing to participate. Participants must sign an Indemnity Form before participating, this form will be explained verbally to you on the day of your event.

Guidelines

Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present
Participants need experience driving Manual gearbox cars
A valid drivers licence is not required as the experience takes place on a closed private road
Maximum height is 6 foot 5 inches
Maximum weight 120kg

Cancellation

Changes are not permitted within 14 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Participants will be put in a group of 6 people, while driving it will just be you and the rally instructor in the car.

Spectators

Friends and family are welcome to attend the experience with you, they can hang out in our "service park" area and enjoy views of the start line and finish line of our track.

Weather

This experience will operate rain or shine, in case of extreme weather, the operator will contact you to reschedule.

Dress Code

Wear light clothing suitable to go under the race suits You MUST wear closed/covered shoes such as sneakers or trainers, no workboots or Gumboots.

Location

This experience takes place in the Maramarua Forest, approximately 1.5hrs south of Auckland CBD and an hour north of Hamilton. A quick 4-minute detour from State Highway 2 Heading towards Coromandel or Tauranga. Maramarua Forest is a working Pine Tree Forestry Block that boasts some of New Zealand's most famous Rally roads! You'll find us nestled in the Pine Trees, Look out for the RALLY DRIVE NZ Flag on Okareia Road

18/2/24 - A xmas present from my wife. An amazing experience in Maramarua Forest. I’ve been wanting to do this a long time. New owners Sam & Emma have invested new energy into this business and they are smiles all day. And the hot lap with Noel was wizardry behind the wheel! I’ve had some motorsport experience on tarmac, and I took full appreciation on the learnings I got to how to drive on gravel while reading the conditions of the road. Would definitely do it again with the confidence gained from my experience with Rally Drive. Thanks team. Scott

I purchased this as a present for my husband, and he was over the moon about it. Initially, he was a bit nervous to get behind the wheel, but Rick, who was with him in the car, ensured he had an amazing experience that he absolutely enjoyed. An additional highlight is the opportunity to experience the drive like a professional driver after completing your three laps. I got to try it out too and it was fantastic! Emma and her husband and the whole team were incredibly welcoming, it was easy to chat with them, and communication was smooth. The overall ambiance was fantastic. Wishing you all the best!

The Rally Experience team put on a fantastic day. Dale was an excellent instructor who encouraged you to drive the rally car within your limits, whilst giving you professional instruction and advice to lift your confidence and skill throughout the laps. Just when you thought you had nailed it, you got a hot lap with a pro driver which was very exciting and showed how it is done at the top level. I was concerned that Covid may have had a negative impact, but I was totally wrong...

Highly organised with a careful briefing and drive through the 5km course. After that with Steve as my instructor I travelled at speeds not previously attempted on unsealed roads. Again with instruction and encouragement from Steve my speed around the course increased with each lap. The final thrill was to travel as passenger with Steve driving at a made for TV pace and style - sideways around some bends.

My daughters gave me a voucher for my Birthday as like most men I am fairly hard to buy for as there is nothing I really needed. Took the experience last weekend, along with 5 others, including 2 women, and this is certainly an experience not to be missed. Not only was the drive (3 laps) and the hot lap exhilarating, but I felt it also helped my future driving skills particularly on metal roads, where there are many in Northland. Thanks Dale and the team, and you certainly don't feel scared being accompanied by such experienced drivers.
