Your journey begins with a scenic cruise across the crystal-clear waters of Lake Manapouri. From there, travel over the impressive Wilmot Pass—New Zealand’s most remote road—where panoramic views reveal the first glimpse of the fiord below. Descend through lush rainforest before stepping aboard your vessel for a 2.5?hour exploration of Doubtful Sound’s dramatic waterways.
As you cruise the fiord’s vast 40km stretch, keep watch for the abundant wildlife that calls this environment home, including bottlenose dolphins, New Zealand fur seals, and, at certain times of year, the rare Fiordland crested penguin. Our knowledgeable nature guides are onboard throughout the journey, sharing insightful commentary about the region’s history, geology, and unique ecosystems. With its untouched landscapes, sweeping views, and remarkable wildlife encounters, this experience reveals Fiordland at its most raw and powerful. This means that all food and beverage purchases aboard our vessels in Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Queenstown, and Te Anau, as well as at Walter Peak and the Manapouri Café, will no longer accept cash. A cashless system will provide a smoother, more efficient experience for both our guests and staff. Our payment terminals accept all major credit cards and debit cards, including AMEX, WeChat Pay, AliPay and Union Pay, as well as contactless payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Note: Fee of 1.5% applies to food and beverage purchases by credit card only. The fee does not apply to purchases in Retail Store at Walter Peak, or merchandise purchased from our Visitor Centres.

We honour the purchase price of our experiences for 18 months. If you book your experience after this time and the price of the experience increases you can either pay the difference or exchange it for another experience free of charge.
