If you've tried paragliding, then you've just got to try para-motoring high above Christchurch's spectacular Peninsula! Let your instructor guide you with his motored backpack high into the up-draughts and then turn it off and drift casually back down to earth. Experience the thrill of flight!

You will be flying with an instructor during your para-motoring experience. This provides the easiest and safest way to experience the thrill of para-motoring, as you gain heights of 1 mile or more.

Unlike learning to fly solo, a trial instructional tandem flight requires only a 15 minute briefing before you are in the air for the first time! While we are flying, we will explain how the wings and brake handles work to control it.

The flight will last between 20 and 60 minutes depending on weather conditions You will not fly less than 20 minutes in the air. If the lift is sufficient to maintain height for a minimum 20 minute flight then we will fly the same tandem wing without the motor.

In the case of light winds, we can fly with a paramotor. This helps us to achieve heights and durations of flight time that were previously impossible to achieve. Once the desired height is achieved, we simply turn the engine off and paraglide quietly in the updraughts.

The motor sits on the instructors back, while you are seated in front, in a very comfortable padded harness. This allows a full-unobstructed view of the flight, and access to all flight controls. You can even fly the aircraft yourself if you like!

Session Length

We operate daily, but bookings must be made at least 2 days in advance. All bookings are subject to availability. Please contact us on the morning of your flight to confirm suitable flight conditions. Please allow 2 hours - this includes transfers, set-up, briefing and the flight.

Guidelines:

Almost anyone can fly tandem! You must be less than 110kg and be able to walk without assistance.

Numbers:

This experience is for one person. We fly one person and their instructor at a time. There may be up to 6 people in the group on the day.

Spectators:

Spectators are welcome - make sure they bring their cameras!

Weather:

Paragliding and paramotoring is weather dependent. In the case of poor weather, we will reschedule your flight for a later date. Please phone us on the day of your booked flight at 9am to confirm that the weather is suitable.

Other Info:

You will be given a 15 minute briefing prior to your flight. The flight time depends on the weather, but is usually between 20 to 60 minutes in duration. We also provide you with a photo of your experience to keep.
