Mt.Tarawara is New Zealand's most recently active volcano - and now you can walk on it! Departing from Taupo, this package has it all, from a scenic helicopter flight including Huka Falls, to a walk on the crater's edge of Mt.Tarawara. What could be more exciting than walking on a volcano!?

Fly north along the volcanic fault line and Waikato River. Enjoy the aerial views of thermal reserves - Waimangu and Wai-O-Tapu, before climbing to land on the awe inspiring summit of Mt Tarawera. Take a walk with your pilot / guide to the craters edge and view the massive rift formed in this explosive eruption. Return to Taupo via the hidden valley, Wairakei geothermal bore fields and the world renowned Huka Falls.

Session Length

This flight operates every day, at varying times from 8 until dusk, with Christmas Day being the only exception. The tour is about 90 minutes. Bookings are essential. Flights are on demand depending on availability.

Guidelines:

Max participant weight is 136kgs. Just bring a camera, you'll need it!

Numbers:

Price is based on a minimum of two and a maximum of six people on each flight. You may be with other people on board.

Weather:

In the case of bad weather your flight will be rescheduled.
