Jump aboard your twin engine turbine helicopter for a rollercoaster ride of excitement as you make your way to the rafting put-in point. Helicopter is the only way to access the Shotover River during winter. Look down on the winter landscape, taking in Wakatipu Basin, historic Skippers Road and watch skiers along Coronet Peak Ski Area, before flying up the spectacular Shotover River. Check out the white water rapids you’re about to encounter from your aerial view above, and see the site of one of the world’s richest gold strikes.

On arriving at the rafting point, meet your river guide before beginning your white water rafting journey though the spectacular canyon. Your rafting begins from Deep Creek over peaceful waters at first, to get used to the feel of the raft. You are soon heading right towards the exhilarating grade 4 and 5 rapids of the lower canyon. Your adrenaline begins pumping as you paddle through rapids including Aftershock, Squeeze, Toilet, Pinball and Jaws. To complete your rafting adventure, raft the 170m Oxenbridge Tunnel, before shooting over the grade 3 Cascade Rapid.

Before your return to Queenstown, warm up with a sauna and hot shower at the rafting base or grab a treat at the cafe.
