Step back in time and travel along the decommissioned Stratford-Okahukura railway in unique rail bikes. The bikes are more like buggies with 4 wheels that you have to pedal to power; they are a fun and active way to see the gorgeous scenery. Learn about the history of the railway and stop for lunch!
Travel through breaktakingly beautiful countryside on the now decommissioned Stratford-Okahukura railway and take a step back in time. Pedal along tracks that once carried trains that transported stock and supplies in your own rail bike, you'll travel through magnificent tunnels and pass through picturesque countryside; taking in scenic views from start to finish.
The amazing tunnels were carved out in the rugged terrain by labourers who started work in 1902 - it took around 30 years to complete the whole railway - and you'll be speechless when you experience the majesty of them and the lush countryside. A shuttle to and from the railway makes your day easy as well as the stop where you'll enjoy a complimentary lunch and a chance to stretch your legs.
