See what all the fuss is about with one of New Zealand's most popular holiday spots. Explore the Nelson and Abel Tasman region by bike on the Great Taste Trail along with a two day kayaking adventure through the Abel Tasman National Park, one of New Zealand's most truly stunning landscapes.
This incredible five night/six day cycling and kayaking adventure takes you along the well known Great Taste Trail in the Tasman region. You'll spend two days on the trail before taking a couple days break from the bike to explore the Abel Tasman National Park by kayak including camping overnight, before jumping on your bikes again for another two days cycling back to Nelson.
Starting in Nelson, you will head off towards Wakefield via Stoke, Richmond and Brightwater. There is plenty of opportunity to stop along the way to enjoy the World of Wearable Art Museum and the multitude of wineries and craft breweries.
Day two sees you head through the newly opened Spooners Tunnel section of the trail. At 1352 metres, it is the longest disused rail tunnel in the southern hemisphere. You'll then head over the Pigeon Valley summit, down the Valley Route in Motueka and through to the scenic Kaiteriteri.
Arriving in Kaiteriteri, you'll have a couple days off the bike as you head off on a two day kayaking adventure through the Abel Tasman National Park. A kayaking hot spot, this fully guided two day tour gives you access to unspoilt beaches along the coastline. Explore the lagoons, relax on the beaches, or perhaps even paddle with the seals, this is an incredible piece of New Zealand's natural beauty.
Back in Kaiteriteri, you'll set off on day five to continue along the cycle trail and heading towards Mapua, an incredibly vibrant community filled with cafes and galleries.
Your last day starts with a short crossing on the Mapua Ferry to Rabbit Island before cycling through the farmland and along the coastal boardwalks heading back to Nelson.
Four nights accommodation in double/twin share ensuite rooms with breakfast is included, along with camping and full meals on the kayaking component. Packed lunches are provided on your cycling days, and your luggage will also be transported to the next location for you leaving you with nothing to worry about.
