Combine the best of both worlds on this guided sea kayak through the Queen Charlotte Sound and an independent walk along the Queen Charlotte Track. Explore the coves and inlets and witness the spectacular beauty of this magnificent region.
Meet your kayaking guide at the Picton waterfront in the morning before a 20 minute scenic drive from Picton to the launch site at Ngakatu Bay. This is on the western end of the Sound with less boat traffic and many beautiful bays and coves to explore.
After a safety briefing from your friendly guide, paddle through the Sounds exploring the shoreline, spotting rays and seabirds and leaning about the lush native bush near the water’s edge. You’ll be bound for the small settlement of Anakiwa where you will leave your kayaks and pick up your boots for an independent walk along the Queen Charlotte Track to Mistletoe Bay. This section of the track passes through some of the nicest bush of the whole track and is a moderate walk of around 3-4 hours (11km) amongst stunning scenery and incredible views of the Marlborough Sounds.
On arrival at Mistletoe Bay, meet your awaiting water taxi who will return you to Picton with a relaxing boat ride with fantastic views back towards where your days adventure has taken you.
