Meet your hosts at your Turangi accommodation from 5am to 8am to transfer you to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and return. With the early starts you’ll miss the crowds and enjoy the sunrise.

En route your hosts will share a unique Maori cultural experience amongst this majestic landscape before letting you set off on your journey. You will then be met at the end of the crossing for your return journey, with a complimentary drink with your name on it awaiting you.

On the Day

Session Length

  • There are four session times daily
  • Depart Turangi at 5am, return at 2pm
  • Depart Turangi at 6am, return at 3pm
  • Depart Turangi at 7am, return at 4pm
  • Depart Turangi at 8am, return at 5pm
  • It is a 45 minute drive to the start of the crossing
  • It is a 15 minute drive from the finish of the crossing back to Turangi

    Numbers on the Day

    A minimum of two people are required for the tour to proceed.

    Weather

    Access to the crossing is weather dependent. Please check in with the experience provider at least one day before your booking date via email or phone to confirm weather conditions.

    Dress Code

    Avoid denim jeans. Prepare for the weather conditions including wet weather gear. Sturdy footwear is important. It is recommended that you bring sufficient supplies including food, water, first aid kit, sunscreen, and headlamp. Be prepared for all four seasons in one day in the Tongariro National Park volcanic environment where alpine weather conditions can change suddenly.

    Cancellation

    Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to their policy:

    • Cancellation must be received by the provider 48 hrs or more with written notice (email, letter, text, and phone) acceptable for 100% refundable
    • Notice less than 48 hrs and before 24 hrs notice will incur a 50% refund.
    • Notice less than 24 hrs will forfeit any refunds
    • Once the client has started their confirmed transport and if change of mind during this travel time will forfeit any refund; this also includes using any other transport operator than us booked with. Weather permitting not applicable
    • If a client has booked & prepaid and is then *refused transport, the client will forfeit any payment for any refund
    • Unforeseen circumstances out of our control may affect bookings to be cancelled therefore bookings affected will be notified and informed
    • Outdoor activities of participation and of any own vehicle parking is at your own risk.
    • Notify us if not to participate with any photography.
