Listen to the songs of the native birds and marvel at the lush green forests as you explore the bays and inlets of Kapiti Island by kayak. Return to land and take the time to wander around the Island's walking trails, swim in the bay or simply relax on the beach in complete solitude.
Departing from Paraparaumu, you will travel by boat on the "Kiwi Express" to the renowned Kapiti Island. The Island is one of New Zealand's oldest and most treasured nature reserves, home to a number of endangered bird species. Upon arrival, your experienced guide will run through a safety briefing and a quick introduction on how to manoeuvre the kayak. After the session, jump aboard and begin exploring the stunning bays and inlets of the Island, marvelling at the lush forests and pristine waters. Make sure to glide close by the shore as you'll be able to hear the songs of many native birds playing about in their untouched homes. Your guide will tailor your paddling experience to best suit the weather and sea conditions of the day. You will either paddle north and around to the Cathederal Cove and the seal colony or south to the southern islands and past Wharekohu Bay.
After a couple hours on the water, paddle back to shore and spend some time uncovering the unparalleled beauty of the Island. Walk the many low tracks found throughout, have a swim in the bay or simply relax on the beach and truly immerse yourself in nature. This amazing tour allows you to experience nature at its finest - wild and filled with bird song.
