Departing at 9am, head out on this guided trek through the Matukituki Valley amongst the mountains and wilderness. Meet your guides in the morning and drive out to the edge of Mt Aspiring National Park.

Your guides will lead you along the trek sharing their knowledge and expertise along the way. Cross the Matukituki River on a suspension bridge with a dramatic view of the mountain river cascading over the boulders below. The trail then follows Rob Roy Stream and you will catch glimpses of Mt Rob Roy above

Enter the alpine zone and enjoy an alpine picnic and the native birds, set the a majestic backdrop. You may also see large sections of glacial ice fall from the glaciers high above and crash onto the slopes below in small avalanches.

Head back into the bush for the descent and reflect and grandeur of the Rob Roy Glacier trek.

Numbers on the Day

The group will have a maximum size of two guides and sixteen members. The experience level of the group may be wide ranging as this walk caters to a range of skills.

Dress Code

You will need to supply the following: Daypack (to carry lunch and drink.), boots or sturdy walking shoes, socks. Clothes applicable to the weather plus additional layers for the colder altitudes. A raincoat, wool or fleece hat, sunhat, sun block, polypropylene gloves and walking poles (optional)

Guidelines

A good fitness level will increase your enjoyment of this walk. The route involves following a basic track formed through the bush with uneven footing and a small amount of mud and slippery rocks.You will be walking uphill for between two and three hours on a moderate angle track.
