Are your kids the adventurous type? Journey into untouched mystical wilderness and negotiate rock strewn white water rapids of the Wairaurahiri River. Experience the best that New Zealand’s South Island has to offer. Your kids will have the time of their lives on this jet boat adventure!

Your jet boat experience begins with a pick up from Tuatapere or the Lake Hauroko ramp. The tour will start at 9.30 am. Once on board the jet, you will speed over Lake Hauroko and then dive into the Wairaurahiri River. This is one of New Zealand’s most remote and untouched rivers, unique and secluded. The river flows through virgin beech forest that is over 1 million years old.

This spectacular jet boat experience is an ultimate combination of thrilling adventure and natural surroundings for the full length of the river - 27 kilometres. The river travels down white water rapids and emerges on the rugged south-coast of New Zealand. From here you will visit the Waitutu Lodge for hot drinks and a bush style B.B.Q, which includes local game before a short informative nature walk through the Waitutu Forest.

Then it’s back onboard the jet for the return trip to experience the full force of the grade three rapids, a climb of 520 feet to Lake Hauroko. We will return to the ramp between 3.30 and 4.30 pm.

Session Length

We operate all year round, the main season is September to April. Please allow a full day for this experience. The tour starts at 9:30am at the Lake Hauroko ramp. We will return to the ramp at approximately 3:30 – 4:30pm.

Guidelines:

The price quoted for this experience is for a child under 12 years of age and they must be accompanied by adult.

Numbers:

The jet boat can carry up to ten people per trip. The trip can be customised to cater for larger groups.

Weather:

This activity is subject to the weather. Please phone us the day prior to your tour to confirm whether the tour will go ahead. In the case of bad weather, we will reschedule your jet boat adventure.

Other Info:

We can provide a BBQ lunch (to be ordered when booking) or you are welcome to supply your own food. Hot drinks are provided but any other beverages are BYO. Toilets are available at Lake Hauroko, Teal Bay Hut and Waitutu Lodge.
