The Wairarapa Garden Tour is a great way to see two of New Zealand's best gardens. Take a scenic journey from Wellington over varied terrain to reach the wonderful Wairarapa. Visit the spectacular formal Richmond Gardens and in contrast, see the relaxed Assisi before lunching at the Gladstone Inn.

Departing Wellington by train for a scenic 1.25hr journey. Get a good look at the wonderful harbour before travelling through bush clad valleys and tunnels, emerging into the beautiful Wairarapa countryside. Join a bus in Carterton and visit two absolutely stunning Wairarapa Gardens.

The formal Richmond Gardens are listed as one of only four New Zealand Gardens of International Significance! Assisi, set high on the rural Gladstone Hills, is a New Zealand Garden of Regional Significance with some absolutely amazing views to go with its spacious plantings and man-made lake.

Relax with lunch at the award-winning Gladstone Inn as well as a visit to a local vineyard. Finish the day with a wander of NZ’s oldest planned inland town, Greytown. This experience is a wonderful exploration of a magical, scenic region!
