There is no other place in the world, where it is possible to fly from the centre of the city in view of the sun rising out of the ocean toward snow-capped mountains. What a way to start the morning! Concluding with a traditional glass of bubbly and certificate presentation.

You will be picked up from your accomodation in central Christchurch and transported to the launch site (which is dictated by the wind direction and varies). You will spend about half and hour actively participating in helping to prepare the balloon for launch. Then after a flight briefing it's up into the sky where you will fly for one hour. After landing you will celebrate with a glass of champagne and everyone will receive a flight certificate.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Session Length

The whole experience lasts up to four hours with one hour being the flight time. Available everyday, all year round, weather permitting. To be sure to secure your desired date it is advised to book as much in advance as you can, especially between October-April.

Guidelines:

Minimum age of 5 years. Unfortunately you cannot fly if you have had a recent back or hip operation, if you are over 3 months pregnant or a wheelchair user.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. The number of people that will be in the basket with you during your flight ranges from five to 22.

Spectators:

We are happy for spectators to follow our crew vehicles or alternatively they can ride with the crew in the vehicle but this is only subject to availability and we cannot confirm until the evening before when we have our final numbers.

Weather:

This is a weather related activity. We make a decision on the morning of the flight and we give the passengers a special flight hotline telephone number that they call and it will tell them if the flight is on or cancelled.

Other Info:

Registered under Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. The pilots have commercial pilots licences and the crew have specific drivers licences for the vehicles.
