Get ready for a wine tasting tour with a difference as you and a friend experience a 10 minute scenic helicopter flight over the Hawke’s Bay wine region, before enjoying a 2-course winery lunch and heading off to visit up to four premium wineries in the surrounding area by chauffeured vehicle!

Whether you’re a wine aficionado or don’t know your Cab Sav from your Shiraz, you’ll be in for a real treat on this wine tasting tour!

On the morning of your wine tasting tour, we’ll collect you and a friend from your accommodation in the local area in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and deliver you to your waiting helicopter. Arriving at the airfield, you’ll meet your pilot and enjoy an exhilarating 10 minute helicopter flight around the Hawke’s Bay region with full commentary. You can expect to fly over the orchards of Hawke’s Bay, the city of Hastings and Havelock North before heading towards the Gimblett Gravels grape growing district to view the terrain of this famous grape growing area. You’ll end your helicopter flight at the prestigious Sileni Estate where you and a friend will dine on a delicious 2-course lunch with matching wines.

After lunch, you’ll learn about the many different grape varieties in the region as well as a little local history. You’ll be transported to the wineries by car and as we reach our first winery, we’ll take some time to walk among the vines and learn about the unique growing conditions of the Gimblet Gravels district.

Throughout the afternoon, you’ll visit four wineries and enjoy numerous wine and cheese tastings. You and a friend will taste classic red European varieties such as Syrah / Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Pinot Noir. The area is also famous for the white varieties, including, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Semillon, Pinot Gris and Viognier.

At the conclusion of the tour, you will be returned to your accommodation at approximately 5pm.

Venue:

We will collect you from your accommodation in Napier, Hastings and Havelock North in the Hawke’s Bay region.

Session Length

We operate 7 days a week, all year round (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Anzac Day). Please allow 6 hours for the tour. We depart at approximately 11am and return at 5pm. Please book in advance to secure your preferred date.

Guidelines:

There is a 120kg weight restriction per passenger for the helicopter. You must be over 18 years of age to participate in the wine tasting. Alcohol cannot be consumed in the vehicle and may only be sourced from the licensed premises we visit.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for two people, it is an exclusive tour for the two of you.

Spectators:

Not suitable for spectators.

Weather:

The helicopter flight can be affected by the weather. In the event of poor conditions, we may have to cancel your experience and reschedule for a later date.

The helicopter component is a one-way flight and is approximately 10 minutes in duration. You will be transferred by chauffeured vehicle for the remainder of the tour. This experience is perfect for anyone from beginners to wine aficionados.
